My Answer to Yaacov Apelbaum's Complaint

Per Judge Nachmanoff’s order on Monday directing me to file an answer to Mr. Apelbaum’s suit within two weeks, I’ve filed the above this morning in Alexandria.

I was not aware that having troped is an offense that required explanation, apology or forgiveness, from God or man, but if it is, Lord forgive me, for I have troped. I ask the reader’s forgiveness also for my audacity of trope, and assure you I have not put trope before experience.

The silence of one’s friends is always the surprise and the tell in an instance like this. A case like this, with obvious implications for press freedom, has attracted no interest either from publishers nor the NGOs who have assumed responsibility for guarding it. Nor can I find anyone to take the case. Whether this is due to threats, or the embarrassment of the national media’s failure to notice Mr. Apelbaum at the outset of the Hunter Biden matter, I cannot say. Might have been a trope if they did.
