It’s Christmas in August, the shareholders list behind Elon Musk’s purchase has been released as of yesterday, so they’re about two weeks before the judge’s deadline. Via Alejandra Caraballo on Twitter, here’s the full list:
Some of this we already knew. We already knew the Saudis had a big role, Jack Dorsey would retain a stake, and Elon Musk would kick in some of his own funds.
Many of the others have been covered on this blog. 8vc and Andreessen Horowitz, for instance, are taking Chinese mob cash, and 8vc also has Russia problems. Binance was an enormous Chinese money laundering operation linked to the cartels, and Sequoia was investegated by Congress because of its China problems. Linda Ye and Robin Ren are from Shanghai.
Gigafund is Luke Nosek, close to Greg Abbott (as is 8vc’s Joe Lonsdale, who hired Abbott’s daughter). Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square is on there too. There’s Larry Ellison, and Sean Combs.
It’s hard to think of a group of investors more problematic from the standpoint of U.S. national security.
Now let’s link this ownership to what influencers seem to be boosted. The sort of substance-free conservatives like Jack Posobiec, Ian Miles Cheong, Ashley St. Clair, all of whom are extremely biased toward the Israeli side of the conflict in Gaza, are taking huge payouts. Meanwhile, the conservatives who support American interests are suppressed or banned. In other words, you should think of Musk’s Twitter purchase in part as a means of backing certain assets.
With this Saudi money backing a very pro-Israel set of influencers, this is a point of view that tends to agree with what Brett McGurk is advocating for within the Biden administration, which is Saudi-Israeli normalization. Such a deal is not in U.S. interests, and I can’t imagine the Saudi people have much time for the idea at this point, not that they have much say in the matter.
I continue to play both sides on the TL in order to hide my true love (America, Virginia, cute ladies)
Do we know the percentage of each shareholder? Kingdom Holdings is also prince Alwaleed I think. And I wonder about Shahidi tactic LLC which is registered in Delaware…
